The Challenge
It's important to recognise that mental health challenges in schools existed before the pandemic and have been exacerbated by COVID-19.
The well-being of our students and educators has never been more paramount. The challenges brought forth by the pandemic have amplified existing mental health concerns and introduced new ones that demand our immediate attention.
Children and young people’s mental health services (CYPMHS) have long been regarded as a ‘Cinderella’ service: poorly funded and with long waits for those referred.

The vast majority of staff working in UK schools (95%) have witnessed increased levels of pupil anxiety, according to new research published by Place2Be and NAHT ahead of Children’s Mental Health Week.

Since the pandemic I have observed that confidence, self-esteem, stress and anxiety issues are a notable and growing concern in our schools.

However, we refuse to let this crisis define us. Instead, we choose to come together and tackle the problem head-on.
